Up Close & Personal
When I was younger, I wanted to be a writer. When I first read Everything I Never Told You, I thought that's the kind of book I wanted to write. I have a ways to go before I can write anything remotely comparable to anything Celeste Ng has published, but I want to keep trying to write about things I notice, if only for the sake of remembering them.
In the winter of 2019, I thought that U.S.-China relations were bad. I also thought that coronavirus would never make its slow and devastating way across the whole world. These are my reflections after the most thought-provoking Christmas dinner I've ever had. Read more
